Non-Exposed Roof with Foot Traffic
A protected roof system where the membrane works under screed and finishes — built for terraces, walkways and roofs in daily use.

One System, Built to Work Together.
When a roof doubles as a terrace or service area, the waterproofing is buried under protection and finishes. The membrane no longer faces the sun — it faces loads, so the system is built around protection layers and a wearing surface.
Plain-finish APP and SBS membranes carry the waterproofing duty, covered by a protection layer and a screed that takes the tiles or finish. Done correctly, the membrane lives for decades completely undisturbed.
- Roof terraces and accessible flat roofs
- Walkways and service corridors on roofs
- Roofs under equipment and plant areas
- Podium decks below pavers and finishes
- Balconies and communal outdoor areas

Layer by Layer.
- 01
Substrate Preparation
The deck is cleaned, repaired and screeded to falls toward the drainage outlets.
- 02
Bituminous Primer
A primer coat binds dust and ensures full adhesion of the membrane to the deck.
- 03
Waterproofing Membrane
Plain-finish APP or SBS membrane, torch-applied in one or two layers with staggered laps.
- 04
Protection Layer
Insuboard protection board shields the membrane from screed works and point loads.
- 05
Screed to Falls
A reinforced screed spreads foot-traffic loads and forms the base for the finish.
- 06
Floor Finish
Tiles, pavers or coatings complete the trafficable surface over the protected system.
Built for Daily Traffic
The membrane is fully shielded by protection board and screed, so foot traffic never touches the waterproofing.
Decades Undisturbed
Protected from UV and mechanical damage, buried membranes routinely outlast exposed systems.
Any Finish on Top
Tiles, pavers, decking or coatings — the screed takes whatever surface the design calls for.
Proven Torch-On Base
The same reliable APP/SBS membranes and torch application used across Insutech roofing systems.
